Geological Society of London: 'This is Geoscience' campaign

On 2 September, The Geological Society of London officially launched ‘This is Geoscience’, their exciting new public engagement and careers campaign. It is a long-term initiative to reframe public understanding of geoscience and inspire the next generation of geoscientists. The campaign features new careers and educational resources, up-to-date salary and job market data, and insights into recruitment trends over the past two decades. Developed to be freely used and shared across the geoscience community ‘This is Geoscience’ aims to address misconceptions, broaden participation, and showcase the critical importance of geoscience in tackling global challenges. More information, reports, videos and educational resources can be found on the This is Geoscience website: https://www.thisisgeoscience.com/

Geosektionen: Meeting with Brazilian mining delegation

Our Swedish EFG delegates, Yuliya Zhuk and Magnus Johansson, took part in an inspiring event on 9 September in Uppsala and Stockholm, where they met with a delegation of mining experts from Brazil. The event was organised by Business Sweden and the Brazilian delegation included representatives from five major mining companies: Anglo American, Vale, Nexa Resources, Herculano Mineração, and Samarco.

The visit began at the Smart Exploration Research Center, where the team presented an overview of their activities and opportunities for collaboration within thematic hubs. The discussions then continued at the Swedish Geological Survey, hosted by Therese Bejgarn, Head of Division, Mineral Information & Mining Industry. Here, Yuliya and Magnus introduced EFG as an organisation, highlighted our upcoming presence at COP 30 in Brazil, and shared insights from EFG’s involvement in mining, extraction, and raw materials projects such as ROBOMINERS, SUMEX, and FIC-Fighters. The programme concluded at Swerim in Stockholm, where the focus was on green metallurgy.

Bulgarian Geological Society: Jubilee Conference
